Re: Movie Grab Bag: In 3D!
Maybe the plot will revolve around the awesome toons being swept aside by a deluge of bleepy mocap CGI characters, but I suspect Zemeckis is a little too self-aware for that. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the toons are hand drawn and the 'humans' are mo-capped though.

Re: Movie Grab Bag: In 3D!
I suspect a Roger Rabbit sequel would never happen, for the same reason it didn't happen years ago: the rights for both the original characters and the various cartoon all-stars would be just too hard to untangle these days. The original movie, ironically enough, helped restore the Looney Tunes and Disney characters to enough prominence that the two companies would be demanding exorbitant amounts to use them. And I believe the rights to Roger Rabbit are owned by Spielberg, WB, AND Disney simultaneously, so any sequel has to get three-way approval.

Re: Movie Grab Bag: In 3D!
I wonder if they'd stick with the classical WB and Disney characters, or if they'd have more contemporary characters like that annoying loser with the two fairy godparents and that kid with a huge nose who hangs out with the Grim Reaper.

Re: Movie Grab Bag: In 3D!
Actually one of the big reasons a sequel never happened is that Speilberg and Michael Eisner didn't get along at all while working on the first one.

Wasn't the first movie set in the 1940s anyway?

I don't know how much of this article is true and how much is supposition, but it's pretty convincing supposition.

Joss Whedon makes a bid for the Terminator franchise.

It's hilarious how many people on the Intarwubs have taken that "bid" seriously and are now responding with "ZOMG Joss Whedon is gonna do Terminator awesummmm!!!" or "Boo I h8 Wheedon Dollhouse sux they cansulled Sara Conner Cronikels for it boooooo!!!!!".

Re: Movie Grab Bag: In 3D!
The problem I have with RR II, and I'm one of few here who has read the so-so prequel script, is the first isn't toppable. It's virtually perfect. It's a cartoon buff's dream. Daffy vs Donald finally happening in living color. Bugs meets Mickey! Dumbo! Droopy! Then you throw on a very witty, classy script that riffs on the Cotton Club and Chinatown (!) and an incredible job by the humans. If I'm effusive in my praise, well of course I am. It's a film in need of a rerelease, not a sequel.
And the prequel, it's a highly mediocre wwII action comedy whose best element is a plausible explanation for how the hell Roger Rabbit landed his wife. (When first depicted, she's a terminally shy wallflower voice actress.)

Re: Movie Grab Bag: In 3D!
Honestly, I don't even like Whedon all that much and I wish they'd take his bid. I won't speak of what he did to the Alien franchise but if this leads somehow to Felicia Day and Neil Patrick Harris shooting automatic weapons at T-1000s played by Amy Acker I approve heartily.

Re: Movie Grab Bag: In 3D!
Ordinarily I'd say that Whedon's offer of $10, 000 big boys wouldn't stand a chance, but, I dunno, after Salvation, maybe they really would be desperate enough to take him up on it. At the very least, his offer of a throat lozenge for Christian Bale ought to be taken under serious consideration.

I call shennanigans. The New Barbarians is not the third entry in the Bronx trilogy. That was After the Fall of New York. Where the hell is After the Fall of New York?
