Woohoo, I got Scott Pilgrim Vol. 6 even though it's apparently not supposed to be out till Tuesday. Yay for lazy bookstore employees?

So, Grendel's the bad movie faerie and the magical source of all our content when our b-wishes come true? Huh. And here I thought it was just pure luck when Barbara Crampton came to my house in dominatrix gear, demanding to be satisfied. Geez, thanks Gren.

Picked up Issue number one of Strange Science Fantasy from IDW. Story is called Dawn of the Gearheads and while the story is nearly incomprehensible and generally pretty dumb, the kinetic artwork is actually pretty cool. It's a pretty good portrait of outright Death Race inspired anarchy with its hero being The Headlight, a hero with a head like a headlight.

So my library finally carries all of Sandman. I've finally managed to read the entire thing.

I don't know what I think, aside from, "Wow, Neil Gaiman has no idea how to stick to a plotline".

Not that I mind. Many of the tangents are more entertaining than the main story.

Am I the only person who thinks Delirium is more attractive than Death?

It really depends who's drawing them...this IS Sandman, remember?

And you're going to have to elaborate on Gaiman's "inability to stick to a plot-line".

Just read Green Lantern #55, and am happy to report that it includes a "Tales of the Red Lantern Corps" story. It's Dex-Star's origin...and it's f****n' AWESOME. And sad. I never knew three words could be so haunting and tear-jerking: "I Good Kitty."

Just read it. Probably my single favorite Johns story I've read in awhile. And I love that it's a very short and simple backstory. Lots of people don't have respect for the backstory. 'The Boy who Collected Spider-man' is one of my all time faves and I really loved the stuff that Ann Noceti and John Bolton use to do for Classic X-men.

Now this one is uh special. For racist spoofs of classic comic covers, there's just one source: Tea Party Comix!

The worst part is you know it was done purely and solely for the purposes of creating an ironic "Goddamn Batman"-style internet meme. Is this really what mainstream comics have come to? The paper-and-ink equivalent of a f***ing LOLCat?

On the upside, this week also saw the release of Action Comics #891, where Lex Luthor fights Mr. Mind in a variety of progressively more cracked out mental landscapes. Pete Woods draws the most adorable version of Mr. Mind ever and this issue has a strong contender for panel of the damn year. And considering it's main competition is that Thor and Warriors Four (The All Ages Thor / Power Pack team up mini-series) panel which features an Afro'd Teenage Beta Ray Bill (It's GLORIOUS!) that's saying a lot.

So go read that instead.

Not that I disagree...but the part of my brain trained by pulp horror can't help but consider an even worse possibility: that, at some point in the not-too-distant-past, Kevin Smith actually considered this funny.

Apparently there's a quote going around that Smith claimed to get sh#tfaced and high before writing anything and having no memory of the actual act of writing when he was finished. He may be joking but lord, that would explain so...so much.

Haven't read Batman in ages, and learning that Smith is at the helm isn't going to spur me to run to the nearest comic store, but damn is that lame. So in Smith's world Batman smacks around the woman he loves because she might be a robot and he wets his pants. Just when I thought Cop Out was the worst Kevin Smith project.
